Alumni Concert highlights:

1. Kids had fun! Plus, they sang well, strummed well, and drummed well!!!

2. Was amazingly wonderful having former SES students from Stonepark and CRHS contribute to the show!

3. Cake, cupcakes and traditional treats were appreciated and enjoyed by all!

4. “Bonus Special Guests”:                                   “Stonepark Glee Club” and “The Sidewalks”!

5. $200 donation made to UNICEF Canada! Thanks to all for this! Students at school have watched and discussed the following awareness video created by Unicef, which explains our donation! Music used to make a difference in others’ lives is where the magic truly happens! ❤️

The Alumni Concert is tonight!!! :)

All participants from SES, Stonepark and CRHS singing songs from musicals are asked to be at the school by 5:30.  Everyone else should be in the gym no later than 6:45. Seats will be reserved for the Rock Band, Ukulele Groups and the Recorder Groups.

The doors to the gym will be closed  for the audience until 6:40.

Concert reminder

• Hi Everyone,

This is just a reminder to Choir, recorder, Rock Band and ukulele group participants to return  permission forms asap, to contribute/participate in the Alumni Concert on Tuesday, June 20th, 7pm. We hope to hold the concert OUTSIDE by the music room windows! Lawn chairs will be required for the audience!  A final decision on this will be made on Monday. The gym will be the rain location, if needed!

Also, we are looking for a few more parents to bake or buy cupcakes and/or to bake traditional recipes from various countries represented by our students.  Recipes will be provided! The treats will be pretty easy to make! Thank you for your positive and generous response already!

Treats covered in plastic Saran, can be brought to school the night of the concert, and placed on tables that will have posters identifying the country/and dessert name! Cupcakes can be placed next to the large cake, featuring a map of the world!

So far, in addition to a large cake and  several dozen tasty cupcakes, we will be sharing moon cakes from China, macaroons from Dominican Republic, Scottish oatcakes from Scotland, semolina cake from Syria, and Philippine butter cookies from the Philippines! We have more traditional recipes to share…please send a note if you may be interested in baking a traditional treat! 🙂

We are looking  forward to the concert! As usual, the magic is in the music and the children’s voices, but for this event, it’s also in sharing food at the end of the show and making connections with those around us. Thanks again!!!

 

 

 

Rock Band Update:

We will be rehearsing on Tuesday, June 13th from 2:35-3:45, and on Monday, June 19th also after school until 3:45, in preparation for the upcoming Alumni Concert to be held on Tuesday, June 20th at 7pm. Thanks!

Thanks to Stratford Honour Choir and grade six students who sang at  the Birchwood Band concert this evening! Great job! Was nice to be a part of this music community! Exciting times ahead!

Concert Choir for June 20th Alumni Concert

After school rehearsals will be held:

Friday, June 9th until 3:45

Wednesday, June 14th until 3:45

Friday, June 16th until 5pm to allow a rehearsal with intermediate and senior high students.

Pleaae bring a snack to all practices. We can’t wait to share our music! Thanks again for parent/guardian support of this exciting musical adventure!

 

Music Happenings in June!

Thursday, June 8; Birchwood School cafeteria:
The Honour Choir and some grade 6 students have been preparing, “Lean on Me”, and “Gift of Acceptance” to sing at the Birchwood Intermediate School Concert. The students will be accompanied by the Birchwood Band! How exciting! The show begins at 7:00. Stratford students are asked however, to meet at 8:00 in the band room. Please dress in choir uniform.

Tuesday, June 20th, 7pm, in the SES school gym:
An Alumni Concert involving students who attended Stratford Elementary between 2010 and the present are preparing an end of the year celebration! Songs from seven musicals, the school rock band, a recorder group, ukulele group and bucket drumming group will share their music! Cake will be served, at the end, as well as cup cakes and traditional foods representing the thirty countries from where Stratford students originate! Admission is by donation, in support of UNICEF to aid displaced children. All welcome!
